Ruuskanen Railio Duo
Veera Railio and Maija Ruuskanen are both versatile music professionals: singer-songwriters and music theater professionals. They both are members of the Music Theatre Kapsäkki / Musiikkiteatteri Kapsäkki in Helsinki. www.kapsakki.fi
Both performers have Master of Music degrees from the Sibelius Academy.
Ruuskanen released their first album together, Tänään (Today) in 2006 with the formation Ruuskanen Railio Company, founded in 2003 with Veera Railio. The musical style of this acoustic band could be best described as pop music with a scent of jazz and folk influences.
Their second album together was released 2012 with the formation Ruuskanen Railio Strings Samassa Unessa. There are also several guest artist in that album.
They have been hosting Ruuskanen Railio Klubi with featuring artists since 2011. With that concept there has been several different acoustic concerts around Finland although their so called home stage is still in Music Theatre Kapsäkki.

Maija Ruuskanen is a versatile composer, musician and music theatre professional from Finland. Already during her studies at the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki she established herself as a pianist and composer in the contemporary music and theatre music scenes in Helsinki. Her works include jazz flavoured pop songs, sound designing and strong songs for theatre and performances, as well as commissioned classical compositions.

Maija Ruuskanen has received several grants from different organisation and foundations for her artistic work as composer.

Veera Railio is a versatile creative musician who moves in different genres, as well as a singer-musician and performer. The main instruments are vocals and violin. Railio is also an active and dynamic member of the Kapsäkki Music Theatre. One of Railio’s flagship projects is the acoustic Ruuskanen Railio Club, hosted together with pianist-composer Maija Ruuskanen. Other notable works: Baroque harpist Andrew Lawrence-King’s band, The Adiemus Singers, Radio Chamber Choir, Savonlinna Opera Festival and major musicals at Svenska Teatern and Helsinki City Theater.

Musik ohne Grenzen
Das Duo Ruuskanen & Railio spielt, singt und arrangiert so ziemlich alles, von der klassischen Musik bis hin zu erdigem Blues, Jazzstandards sowie Pop- und Rockklassikern.
Beide haben an der Sibelius Akademie in Helsinki studiert und mit fast allen gespielt, die in Finnland Rang und Namen haben. Sie machen Theatermusik, treten bei den Opernfestspielen in Savonlinna auf – Maija Ruuskanen hat bereits selbst eine Oper geschrieben. Nebenbei haben sie auch noch ihren eigenen Musikklub in Helsinki, wo sie mit unterschiedlichsten Gästen auftreten und ihre Vision von Musik ohne Grenzen zelebrieren.
